J339 - Rare Fossil Egg of Giant Tortoise Aldabrachelys abrupta - Holocene from Madagascar Turtle †PycnosteroidesTruly rare specimen of Madagascars natural history. Its a fossilized egg from the extinct giant tortoise species Aldabrachelys abrupta, measuring approximately 5. 77 cm. Found in the fossil beds of southern Madagascar, each egg is a relic of a species that roamed the region long time ago. Some of these fossilized eggs are hollow, while others contain traces of ancient sand (as the one we are offering here), giving them an authentic weight and texture.
