Hosta Salute Mallows (aka: Ophiopogon 'Nigrescens'
Yard notes & kiln story
Description
(aka: Ophiopogon 'Nigrescens'
the clumps begin to flower with 2" very fragrant
From the Mexican state of Tamaulipas comes this really cool and far-out bear grass (a little Deadhead gardener lingo)
The 5' wide clumps are composed of thick
humid climates as long as the soil doesn't stay dry for extended periods
Hosta Salute Mallows (aka: Ophiopogon 'Nigrescens'From Herb Benedict's breeding line from H. 'Dorset Blue' comes this 4th generation seedling. H. 'Salute' is a uniquely upright grower in the habit of a dwarf H. 'Krossa Regal'. Each 8" long x 4" wide, slightly wavy leaf of powdery blue is held upright on this compact clump. In early summer, the 2' wide clump is topped with 2' scapes of nearly white flowers very unique (don't fuss, we're charter members of adjectives anonymous)!
