Indian and African labour personnel whose essential work included transporting supplies
Established in 1886 and manufactured entirely of 18ct gold until 1889
The most famous action of the campaign is probably the charge of the 21st Lancers at Omdurman in which a young Winston Churchill took part
and between 1881 until around 1901 also had the date of the particular act inscribed on the rim of the medal
