The General Service Medal with North Iraq and South Turkey Clasp was awarded for 30 days service or 3 operational sorties between 6th April and 17th July 1991

The lower limb of the medal is engraved with the year of issue and subsequent awards are denoted by adding a 2nd award bar to the ribbon
The distinctive ribbon combines light green and scarlet sections separated by a narrow white stripe
