While I wasn’t so concerned with a lengthy battle in the surf, but will take any advantage that I can, a second benefit of this knot quickly presented itself in that the way the line exits the hook eye actually produces a natural tendency for the hook to turn in the direction of further burying the hook point into the fish, as opposed to pulling it out (hence less dropped fish)

The net is also snag resistant as hooks will not easily imbed into the netting and get stuck.
